I'm reading On The Road, cuz I was in a bookshop and thought "Wait, I'm 19 and haven't read On The Road". Enjoying it.
Mostly my reading lately have been related to my university courses, so I'm been emerged in books relating to the social construction of gender during the First World War, the society of Pre-Islamic Arab Peninsula, the fundamentals of the British Constitution and other stuff I'm not sure about; I just kinda turn up at the lectures and hope it'll make sense some point along the line...

i read on the road in the spring. when i finished it, i felt surprised that it spearheaded a cultural movement in the states. for a book that sparked a shift like that, it seemed very laid back. kerouac didn't read like he was totally interested in being radical; he just wanted to tell a good story, at which i think he was very successful. it's kind of like the breakfast club: if you take it for what it is, it's just a good bit of entertainment, but if you really get into it, you can understand pretty easily why people became so enthusiastic about it.

On The Road is an amazing novel.
I'm reading "Women" by Charles Bukowski. Which is really different for me being gay and reading a novel completely about really erotic experiences with women. I'm finding it to be better and better as I go along though.
After "Women" I'm going to read "You Shall Know Our Velocity" by Dave Eggers. He had a hand with Spike Jonez in writing Where The Wild Things Are.

I like No Exit so much I ripped it off for my GCSE drama piece and got an A.
Although, y'know, there were less lesbians in my "interpretation" (since it was a group of 3 lads).
Oh, and I was suppose to read Waiting for Godot for a Drama course once and, er, never actually did...
