I remember him saying something kind of like that in an old john norris video interview when he was talking about Let the blind...

i like that one. while i don't identify w/ Bradford's asexuality, i do identify more w/ the celibacy side of that arguement & putting all of that energy into one's work. i have not had sex in four years and i don't really see myself as having sex anytime soon. i barely even masturbate anymore.

I'm quite interested in Brad's Christianity because it's weird to go from being a leftist member of the green party to Christianity. I'm guessing that what he's probably into is Jesus' basic principles which is decent enough because of a lot of it is kinda similar to socialistic stuff. Then again why should I care I like his music...

It is interesting. But I just try to not take those kind of things too personally, no matter how contrasting from my own views.

i think it is more of a southern Baptist thing. that upbringing. the community.

i don't think anyone on here wants to have a discussion about Christianity on a music forum in the same way no one wanted to have a discussion about Gay identity here either. which of course i do understand. Christianity is not exactly "cool" theme in youth culture but it is something that many of us cannot hide from in our daily lives. nor do we want to hide from...

It'd be weird how much Christianity is around in the US (well areas) to me compared to here were apart from the rad churches and football teams who just want to fight rather than care about religion (in truth), it never comes in to my day at all it just sort of ceases to exist. The great irony is that America was founded by people who wanted to get away from church/government power ended up getting it were as it died here.

Essentially apart from old people and what are basically social outcasts, a lot of religion is dead here. Apart from say Asians were it still strong.

well. i think many fled becuz they wanted to start their own Protestant sect hence Freedom of Religion not Freedom to be FREE from Religion. but yes. the great irony that the institutions that were created to not be oppressive or hegemonic have essentially become as such. i do not argue w/ that.

it is what it is. it was what it was...

I never meant away from the church I meant the combined power. Was it not Deism that they sought rather than specifically Protestantism?

I'll happily have a discussion on Christianity. I'm just not that bothered about 'gay identity' to particularly want to learn anything about it as it's not something I'm particularly interested in.

sorry i misread what you wrote. yes you are right. hence the constitutional amendment of separation b/w church & state. but the freedom of religion essentially was put into place to allow the various Protestant sects that were being persecuted in Great Britain to allow to practice freely. it is the reason why there are so many (different) churches here now.

and yes. many of the founding fathers WERE Deists but at the same time MANY were not. for example, Aaron Burr's father was a Presbyterian minister and founder of what is now Princeton University. John Adams was a DEVOUT Unitarian. so it just depends. it works both wayz...

but yeah i am not a historian so you should not take my word for anything. & i am not trying to debate or quibble. just trying to level some distinctions...
