While we're sharing, I don't like Joy Division. I think Curtis and his lyrics are pretty meh.

i can't really speak for richmond's scene because i live two hours away from richmond and can't go out there that often, but i've read that it's kind of a punk scene. i can say that the national was an awesome venue for an mbv show, though.

i like joy division as well. i prefer their contemporaries - gang of four, echo & the bunnymen, etc. - but i can't deny that i love songs like "isolation" and particularly "decades."

Nah as far as I'm concerned few post-punk bands have much on JD. Others come close (Orange Juice, This Heat, Television Personalities, The Fall etc) but none of them hit so simply as JD.

do you have to be on a whole bunch of drugs to understand "Loveless" or something? or have undergone some sort of traumatic break-up. what made it "click" for you? is it a fall record? winter record? et cetera...tell me...or does you simply have to rolls eyes have "good taste."

Actually all of those things, maybe all at once if youre unlucky, will help you get into it. Its a big drug record, definitely.

Come In Alone is an outright banger though, no idea why anyone would hate on that jam even if you hadnt done anything.

seeing as were sharing bands we dont like, i dont like the jesus and mary chain. i have "psychocandy" and its really fucking boring and flat. "loveless" is pretty good but for me some of the songs are abit too long and strech out abit far. anyone agree with my statements?

I don't really like The Clash or Bowie or...Eno (excluding some of his productions).

I hate the Clash (never was into them except the song tommy gun) and Im not a fan of JAMC anymore (used to be, but their one note grew tiresome and I dont think theres a lot of value in their music to me. just like honey is a good song though).

oh okay. i was just asking. i know Blues Control moved down there somewhat recently and i've read a few good things about Diamond Black Hearted Boy. but that is about all i know Richmond-wise...
