to be honest, I always had trouble hearing him. i saw him play at one of his last shows and i made a point to stand in front of him and still had trouble picking out his parts.

I loved that weird guitar tone of his. A good example is TIUF in its entirety(which he dominated) and stuff like the high guitar part from "Spring Hall Convert".

Bradford is also credited with guitar, but it mostly sounds like Colin to me. He seems like a rambunctious dude and doesn't that just make sense?

im sure brad is lol'ing at this thread if he's reading it. No idea where you guys get the impression that Colin did much in deerhunter, he mostly hit random chords and mugged hard on stage and drank a lot. those who saw them live (im starting to think many did not see them during colin's era) know whats up.
you guys are reading waaaaay too much into S/T (Its not actually called TIUF, that phrase is just written on the spine of the LP). it really blows my mind how much many of you are into it. Am I listening to the same record as you? it sounds like a bargain bin version of the first PIL record mixed with the Fall. deerhunter were not that good a band until cryptograms busted out and blew the music world away.
colin looked cool on stage though, and hollow stars sounds really good, I dunno if I "miss him" in deerhunter though. i voted "maybe", lol

He was certainly doing something with that guitar but I could never really pick out his individual parts.. I suspect he had a hand in some of the harder edged stuff that they used to do and haven't done so much recently (e.g. stuff like Lake Somerset).. He was fun to watch on stage at the one show I did manage to catch while he was in the band, it was amusing to try and guess exactly what mix of substances he was tripping on..
ps. I pretty much agree with PL on the first album.. 4 or 5 pretty decent dance-punky efforts but there's a lot of forgettable stuff there too.. I'm glad they evolved on from that sound.
