i agree that the beatles are made out to be much better than they are, but i still like them. i think the beatles wrote tons of bad songs, but like noel murray wrote in popless...



i don't really agree with the "contrary for contrariness' sake" bit, but otherwise, i agree with him, having fit most of those descriptions.

if someone asked me who my favorite 60s group was, i'd say the velvet underground, though, so i'm not sure my opinion holds much weight here. :U

i am not really into the Beatles either. and yes i prefer the Rolling Stones to the Beatles but no i am not one of "those" dudes.

but again w/ the Radiohead bashing. they are not "over-hyped" IMO. they never have been. their albums almost alwayz unceremoniously come out, kind of magically appearing out of the ether. there is no real hypemachine behind that. they just have like a bunch of really dedicated fans that really appreciate and support their music and in turn Radiohead treat their fans decently and are not condescending to them at all. there is no dumbing down w/ Radiohead.

even when the majorlabelcorporatemarketing apparatus was at its peak, ramming $15 of garbage down kids throats w/ impunity, Radiohead was never one of those band where any one of there release dates was some sort of big media event. like other bands of that time.

okay so maybe you don't like that Radiohead "vibe" or maybe you don't like their music that is fine. i was never really that into for a while & i still don't consider myself a big huge fan but if you don't like Radiohead just siimply say, "I don't like Radiohead."

No way. It's more than that. I loved them for a year and then it just got annoying. Strong emotions. Hell yeah I bought In Rainbows for $0.00 and forgot to actually listen to it. Also, I have encountered far too many Radiohead fans who act like condescending pricks. People who think they are intellectuals because they listen to Radiohead. Know what I mean? For me, it's the same thing as the Beatles. If it wasn't all up in my face I wouldn't mind nearly as much.

The release of In Rainbows was a pretty big media event. There are plenty of bands I should like that I don't for one reason or another.

i think the Stones are more overrated!
Their Satanic is their only record i can listen without skip some tracks.
but... i know... it's a personal problem.
they always seemed one dimensional to me.
i prefer the Beatles. every record is different.

well, the one guy i know who likes radiohead is actually really really nice. he seems to only pick up new music based on what radiohead likes, however.. he only wanted to hear grizzly bear once i told him (or showed him an article.. i don't remember) jonny greenwood liked them. :/

anyway, i'm listening to "this must be the place" by talking heads.

yeah, me personally, i don't know anybody that really likes Radiohead. condescending Radiohead fanz seems like something more to laugh at than get mad about...you know, like ICP fanz...

unless you are talking about Pitchfork or something. i mean there was no "big media event" behind that. the only time i even know when a Radiohead is even out is when it is playing on the local college radio station. & that's if i even cut the radio on.

not really. i don't think he has gotten hang of it yet though. i even question whether he writes his own tweets or does he have some underling do it for him. usually he tweets about whatever thing is going on at Santos and maybe he might tweet about some mind-blowing Taco he ate that day or something.
