i drove two hours just to see mbv and it made my life. But do you live an hour away from the nearest venue or a major city? I can see driving an hour away if you live on the east coast, since there are tons of cities within close proximity of each other like Baltimore and DC. At least you can do fun stuff in a big city. When you have to drive out to the boondocks, it's basically show and then go home. And I think we can all agree that driving an hour for a band that makes pretty regular touring rounds when you can see them 15 minutes away from you next time and driving two hours to see one of the greatest live bands of all-time that hadn't toured in a decade and a half are pretty different situations.

But do you live an hour away from the nearest venue or a major city? yeah. edit: and deerhunter doesn't really come where i can see them. they come to DC most often, but my parents don't trust me going out at night to DC to see a band. they came to charlottesville once, which is about the same distance away in the opposite direction (as well as not a notoriously dangerous community), but i wasn't into them at the time, so. i don't necessarily live in the boondocks, but my town is pretty rural, too. i'm in a similar boat, if not the exact same one. unless we're talking, like, midwest-esque boondocks. then i can't relate.

I live in Cleveland, but with the exception of Columbus most everything within a 150 mile radius is a midwest wasteland.

I'm not blaming the band at all for not coming to Iowa, its kind of a pain in the ass anyways I bet. I just wish people would appreciate having shows in their area more.

I mean, I live in the city, so it's annoying that they didn't even pass through Minneapolis. They bypassed it. Meanwhile, the Fuck Buttons are going to play both there and Carleton.

They play house shows somewhat frequently, but apparently did a lot more before they blew up on the net.
